blogger import authorization not working

I’m trying to help some friends import their old entries from blogger into an existing WordPress 2.2.2 installation on their own server.

So far I have:
1. Switched the old blog (which was FTP) to blogspot
2. Edited blogger.php as per the instructions in this support thread (i.e. chage www2.blogger to https://www.blogger)

But I’m still having problems! I click on the blogger “authorize” button, am taken to the Google authorization page where everything seems to go smoothly, and them am booted back to the wp-admin home page for my wordpress installation (*not* the import page). When I click on Manage->Import->Blogger it is the same page as before, with the “authorize” button.

So it would appear the authorization is not working, but I’m not getting any errors or feedback that tell me WHY!
