Confused about 'Contact' functionality…

  • Again, working on my development site–and I am confused about ‘contact’ functionality.

    I have the static front page set, and the ‘content-sidebar’ layout option as the default for the other pages.

    I have installed the contact form plugin ‘Contact Form 7’–I believe I was prompted to do so at time of install???

    I can drop a contact form into the body of my ‘About’ page using the code proved by ‘Contact Form 7’, but I was trying to put it into the sidebar.

    When I go to the widget page, I see as active the Front Page Widget Area, Primary Sidebar, Secondary Sidebar and Contact Sidebar. When I go to the page I want to work on, and try adding a widget, I see only Primary Sidebar as a choice for placement, but when I add the ‘Contact’ widget, it appears as an empty block. Other widgets like ‘Calendar’ etc are fine and I can drop them in…

    How do I get the Contact Sidebar to appear on a page?

    Contact Sidebar is supposed to be displayed in the Contact page template. Please check it.

    I forgot that I had switched the page back to default template while I was messing around. Switching it back to the Contact page template, and adding a title to the setup screen for the Contact widget makes the title appear in the right column, with an underline like the navigation buttons on Home page.

    But there is nothing beneath the title, or if it is supposed to open when clicked, that doesn’t work either.

    Also, is there a way to change the underline/nav button color–I was using the code from a previous thread to change it to red?

    Sidebar widgets in Contact sidebar is differentiated to make it distinguished from other normal sidebar. You can check the demo. https://demo.wenthemes.com/wen-business/contact/
    You can override parent theme’s style from child theme.

    Understood that this is a different sidebar–but I can see no functionality using the Contact sidebar.

    I tried creating a new page using the Contacts template, and had nothing on it except the Contacts sidebar, and still nothing. If I go to the ‘Change Appearance’-Widgets for that page, and look at the Contact in the widget, I can see all the fields. If I title it, the title shows up in the sidebar, but none of the other fields. (I am not sure if it is a static display or drop down, since it has not worked.)

    If I use the short code from Contact Form 7 and drop it into the body, I can create any Contact form I want–but I wanted to at least try the alternative.
