    Hi there,

It appears that the visual tab is not showing up on my forums. I’ve already tried turning off all plugins except bbPress and this plugin. I also tried switching to a default Twenty-whatever theme. Also ran debug from the config file. No PHP errors, no console errors, doesn’t appear to be a plugin or theme issue so my only assumption is perhaps this plugin doesn’t work with my WordPress/bbPress version?

Here is what I have that is not working:

    1. WordPress 4.2.2
    2. bbPress 2.5.7
    3. bbPress Enable TinyMCE Visual Tab 1.0.1

However, I have it working on another site as a test that is running:

    1. WordPress 4.1.1
    2. bbPress 2.5.5
    3. bbPress Enable TinyMCE Visual Tab 1.0.1

That test is what leads me to believe it’s just incompatible with either the bbPress or WordPress version, or both combined. I’m aware that the plugin description only guarantees that it’s only compatible up until WP 3.5.2. At the very least, I’d like an idea of what the problem could be and perhaps I can look into solving it if it is the bbPress Enable TinyMCE plugin?

Thanks so much in advance! I appreciate your time and help. ??

I don’t think it should be with bbPress.

I reached out to John James Jacoby (jjj) and he said the shouldn’t be anything in 2.5.6 or 2.5.7 that would cause anything to break, those were minor security/maintenance releases.

With that said, the next thing that could be a possible culprit would be the actual WordPress version, since 4.1 > 4.2 is a “major” WP release when things get changed up.

If you’re able to, that would be what I would investigate next. You may try upgrading to 4.2 on that other install and see if that nukes it which would point the the culprit. The strange thing, with over 5k active installs of the plugin, I know at least portion of those users are running 4.2.x and I haven’t had any other reports of breakage due to the 4.2 release.

Ignore the plugin compatible to, I just haven’t updated the readme recently because the plugin hasn’t needed any updates.

    Hi Jared,

Ah okay, so I’ll try doing that then, updating the other install’s WordPress version first and see if it breaks. Going to try that now and report back.

    Thanks!

    Hi Jared,

Turns out it wasn’t the WordPress version. I updated that first and it was fine. Then I updated the plugin, and it was still fine on that install and worked properly.

So then I went back to the broken install and tried more Twenty-something themes just in case and realized it wasn’t working anywhere even with only bbPress and your plugin active.

Then I realized there was a checkbox in Settings > Forums under “Forum Features” that says, “Add toolbar & buttons to textareas to help with HTML formatting”.

Once I checked off this option from bbPress, then your plugin worked! Yay! Thanks for helping me out. ??
