• I installed SEO by Yoast 20 days ago and set up all the things. It works as excepted. However, I’m facing this two issues:

    1. I’m using “Shareholic” plugin for social share and It was worked great with “Basic SEO” plugin. Now I moved to “SEO by Yoast”, It is working fine but whenever I share any page from my blog, It’s not showing up page title or description on social share page.

    2. When I type my blog’s brandname “webblogsforyou” on search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo etc), It’s now showing me home page URL with different title and description. Before migration to “SEO by Yoast” It was working fine and placed at first place on SERP.

Here is the link to my blog: https://www.webblogsforyou.com

  • I’m having a similar issue to webblogsforyou. I updated my meta description template in SEO by Yoast a few weeks ago, and Google seems to have FINALLY picked up the change.

However… the problem still isn’t solved. Only HALF of my meta description shows up in Google’s search results. The plugin shows the first half of the meta description, on the first line of Google’s snippet result, and then the second line starts showing the title of my latest blog post.

Anyone know what’s going on here?

@downloadhub, your question isn’t related to the ones webblogsforyou and I were asking. You should start a different thread.

    Thread Starter webblogsforyou

    (@webblogsforyou)

@downloadhub, yes breebrouwer is right you should open a new support thread.

Generally, It depends what you did to switch from new to old plugin. There is no such a way to recover via any plugin as far as I know.

    Hi everyone,

Same thing exactly as breebrouwer on one of my site.

The Google results pick-up the Title and first line of the Description as entered in the Yoast section. However the second line of the Google Results description is an excerpt of the first Blog Post showing on the same page… weird
I looked around for similar issue, a few user experience the same problem, yet I have not found a fix/explanation so far.

Looking at the cache of the Google Page result, the metas are registering and showing correctly, however Google feels like they should overwrite the second line arbitrarily… quite frustrating.

I did find an article that may refer to this issue, only targeted at the title part, but it may just be the same case, in which..”case” well trial an error it is ??

Any update or hint on a robots.txt trick to prevent Google from doing this would be really appreciated of course ??

    Thanks for reading.

Thanks, Stefanico. If it is actually Google’s fault for showing the meta description this way, I don’t know if there’s much else I care to do with the plugin then.
