    Hi guys,

Some of my site visitors reported that they sometimes saw “403 Forbidden” error page when they were trying to access the web page.

Also, on my Pingdom report, the “probes” of Pingdom also randomly got the same error page (it is reported as downtime). Most of the cases, each downtime seemed to happen just about 1-3 minutes but there were a lot of them per day!

I am not sure whether this has anything to do with the settings of iThemes Security plugin? How do you guys suggest to investigate the issue?

I just did my first guess by disabling the “iThemes Network Brute Force Protection” because the description said that this setting will ban some IPs. Is it possible that the times my visitors and Pingdom probes got 403 Forbidden page were the times they were using those banned IPs?

Do you have any idea about this? Could you please help?

    Thank you.

Deactivate the iTSec plugin temporarily and see whether visitor’s stop receiving “403 Forbidden” error pages …

Hey dwinden, thanks for your answer.

UPDATE: As I have tested by disabling only the “iThemes Network Brute Force Protection” option for 4 days, the issue has been resolved. Now the Pingdom report has not recorded any downtime.

So for anyone who got the same problem, just try to disable this option.

    Hi,
I have same problem and Brute Force Protection swith off does not help ??
    Any other idea?
