• I’ve just completed a fresh install of WP 4.2.2 and uploaded a couple of images. All I got on the media upload and library pages was the “broken image” icon. I inserted the images into a couple of pages and still could not see the images, just the “broken image” icon. I have deactivated the three plugins I have (Fast Secure Contact Form, Akismet, Page Builder) without any effect.

Any help to resolve this would be appreciated.

  • If the images are broken everywhere in WordPress, it might be a problem with the images. Try saving them in a different format. This can be done with an image viewer such as Preview for Macs. Just “Save As” Jpeg or PNG, and re-upload them.

If it’s not this and you’ve already tried deactivating all the problems, it is likely a problem with your theme.

I’ve tried .png, .jpeg and .tff – they’re all the same, they all show the broken image icon.

What if you deactivate ALL plugins and switch to an unmodified default theme?

I have the same problem. Two diferents images (or more) does not see, and if a reload the page these images change (i can see them again but now i can’t see two diferents images).
The only change i have made before this problem was change a page slug.

it was solved in my case deactiving a pluggin “User Access Manager”, does not work fine with WP 4.2.2.

Great! One down one to go!

What if you deactivate ALL plugins…

I’ve already done that, see my OP.

…and switch to an unmodified default theme?

Nope, no change – still broken image icons.

It may be that your wp-content/uploads/ folder is missing write permission.

Thanks, I just checked and wp-content/uploads/ is set as follows:

    drwxrwx–x 0771

    Do those permissions need changing?

    …thanks for the help there.

    Not.

    Hi
    Could you help me?
Why the front page doesn′t show any pictures

I had this problem, too, and was going crazy trying to fix it. I disabled all the Jetpack stuff, and it was fixed. It looks to me like there’s an issue with Jetpack.
