Recommended way of using in a plugin

I’m very interested in using your plugin to manage sessions in a plugin I am developing. I noticed that Pippin uses your plugin in Easy Digital Downloads, and he embeds you code in his so that people don’t have to install two plugins. I’m wondering what would happen if my plugin used your plugin too on the same WordPress install that had EDD installed. I am wondering what the recommended way of using your plugin is when developing a plugin that will be publicly released.
