I had a white screen of death today on one of my sites and my host had to disable all my plugins to restore my site. I had to activate all the plugins again. I activated Simple History but I am getting an error message: “Simple History is a great plugin, but to use it your server must have at least PHP 5.3 installed (you have version 5.2.17).”

My host cpanel reports “PHP version 5.4.40” for my domain. Is there any reason why Simple History will not work with 5.4.40? The only other version available is 5.2. I’ve been using this for quite a while, even when Simple History was installed.
    Thank you,
    Matoca

I think Simple History is correct about the version. Check this thread for a solution:

Let me know how it goes!

Thank you for the quick response. You are correct, despite clearing my cache on the desktop and refreshing the cpanel page, it had claimed I was running 5.4.40. When I went into the actual Bluehost PHP Configuration page, it was indeed set to 5.2. I set it for what I had before, FastCGI 5.4.

Would this corrupted plugin, Hello Dolly, have played any part in this? It took my site down for 10 hours until the fourth support tech noticed it and disabled all the plugins.
    Thank you!

Not sure how Hello Dolly could have caused this (it’s a plugin that comes with WordPress by default). Can’t help you any more without more details, sorry. But good to know it started working again ??
