  • Hi Astrid,

Sorry to hear about your difficulty. Is this a recent issue following a new update? Would you mind post a screenshot of your backend so we can take a look?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

no, I haven’t upgraded yet even though I saw that there is a new update out.

A screenshot won’t be any useful. When I click on products and then add a product manually it doesn’t show up in the list, meaning when i after the adding click on category and then try and add the product by clicking it it’s not even in the list.

Here is the login info so you can take a look. Thanks!

    Hi,

also a suggestion. It would be nice to, in the future, offer a choice of displaying the products in a list, but not showing the details underneath. It seems that right now you can unclick ‘read more’, but then all the info shows up. In my case I wanted a simple list, no photos, and the name clickable which then leads to the separate page with info. I got around it making the ‘read more’ button the same colour as the background. But now my ‘back to catalogue’ button is not legible so I need to find a fix for that. Is there a way of getting rid of the ‘read more’ button altogether AND not having the details show underneath in the list mode?

I am also thinking of upgrading to the premium version. Would the URLs then be pretty URLs meaning more descriptive of the product. The slug name would be the URL name? Also, with the premium version I understand that the SEO description would actually be included on each page?

On more thing. Can the name ‘product’ on the search functionality be changed to ‘seeds’?

    Thanks,

    Astrid

    Hi Astrid,

Okay, just to start off- I’m a little confused as to why you are using the details layout and excluding the list layout if that is how you would prefer things to be displayed?
We do currently include a list layout that sounds a lot like what you’re interested in:
    https://www.etoilewebdesign.com/DevelopmentTwo/a-sample-catalogue-page/
If I understand correctly you do want the list layout but don’t want the images that show when you click down on the title? We offer customizations by contract when we have the availability but unfortunately we’re not able to offer very specific CSS help beyond small fixes over the support forum or else we’d end up spending dozens of hours a week doing design work for different users.

As far as adding new products, it looks like you are at the maximum number of 100 products for the free version of the plugin. The pretty permalinks option would use the slug to create the url and is SEO friendly. In the premium version the product pages are created dynamically, like normal WordPress pages. Search engines are able to crawl the product pages normally, again like they would with any other WordPress pages.

The main SEO premium features are:
    – SEO-friendly permalinks (“Pretty Permalinks” option)
    – integration with the popular “SEO By Yoast” plugin
    – the ability to change the product page titles to include product names, category names and sub-category names as desired, again using the SEO By Yoast plugin integration
    – XML sitemap of all products

You can change the ‘product’ on the search functionality using the ‘Labelling Options’ with the premium version as well, so you can change product to search. If you want to find out more about the options included in the premium version you can check out our video about the plugin Options: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxWENKqa9Rk

We appreciate your suggestion about a list layout that shows no additional info and will keep it in mind.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi,

thanks for your help. We bought the premium version and I will have a look at the video you sent a link for.

I imagine I don’t have to rebuild all product pages that I have so far in order to get the SEO benefit and pretty URLs?

Also, can the ‘sort by’ dropdown options be changed? We don’t have a price attached to a product, for example.

I chose the details view and got rid of the images via css because in the list view the details text info is displayed right below the name or there is a ‘read more’ link. Either one. I want neither. Only the details description on a new page as is now when somebody clicks the name.

    Hi AstridF,

Thanks for the additional information, we’ll consider adding a layout like that in the future if we get some more interest for it.

You shouldn’t need to rebuild all the product pages so long as you set the slug for each product.

The “Sort by” options can’t be changed but thanks for the feature suggestion.
