  • If you don’t then any edits you make to the theme itself will be lost when the theme is updated.

    There are numerous plugins out there that aid in the creation of child themes. It’s a lot easier than you think. I’d be willing to answer any questions if you have any.

    Changes i make in the child theme css does not reflect.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing in, you can get assistance from this article to use child theme correctly: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes

    Thanks.

    /*

    Theme Name: Evolve hijo
    Theme URI: https://theme4press.com/
    Description: Evolve
    Version: 1.0
    Author: theme4press
    Template: evolve

    */
    @import url(“../evolve/style.css”);

    1 – create a folder evolve-child
    2 – put in the screenshot.png and a style.css whith the code above
    3- activate in themes

    I had been postponing creating a child theme because it seemed so technically difficult. Then a friend showed me this plug-in “One-Click Child Theme” and the process took about 15 seconds!

    gazelle101 – I am having the same issue.

    I don’t have a ton of experience in WP, but I have successfully implemented child themes in the past and even this one (at one point!) worked, but now it doesn’t seem to be overriding the parent theme. I spent a day browsing the forums and trying other solutions, but it seems those reference old versions of the parent theme and I can’t find the files they reference.

    I also tried making new child themes with Child Theme Configurator (I got an error saying it couldn’t copy the file?) and One-Click Child Theme (which created a child theme, but it still didn’t work.)

    I tried clearing my browser cache, tried different browsers, contacted the host to see if there was any server caching issue.

    Am I overthinking this? Can anyone advise?

    deadko and getalifeLSSA – Do you have specific experience with the Evolve theme? It seems this theme has consistently caused trouble with child themes. I’m about ready to switch!

    Here’s the site I’m working on.

    I explained how to do it, What did not understand and I re-explain

    Thanks for your reply. Based on other threads I’ve read regarding this theme, I think it has some unique requirements for a child theme to work correctly. Nothing seemed to be working, though, so I ended up switching to another theme.

    Hi,

    Evolve Theme passes all the requirements of WordPress, that is why it is allowed to be hosted in WordPress Themes repository.

    If you cannot get your child theme to work with it, you can always hire a competent WordPress developer. I am sure a professional programmer is able to get it working.

    Thanks!
