How to use in Buddypress theme without search box

Hi – I am using a modified Buddypress theme from which the default buddypress search was removed. I had enabled this plugin with the buddypress search code still there and this plugin had no effect. Can you tell me what code needs to be included in my theme header.php file in order for this to work? And if there is additional code / functions I need to include please let me know that to. I have a bp-custom file setup.
