    Hello,

I’ve just installed WordPress 2.2.2 and everything is working OK. I now want to import posts from a previous incarnation of my site (version 2.0), which are held in an .sql export file. Will everything work ok if I simply import the relevant tables, or are there differences between the two schemas that I need to take account of?

    Many thanks,
    Brian

  • Better to install WordPress 2.0, restore your 2.0 database, upgrade that to version 2.2.2, then use the Export process. Then on your ‘new’ 2.2.2 blog, Import that file you exported from the old blog.

If Brian-h installs wp2.0 and restores the 2.0 database, then upgrades that to version 2.2.2, why does he need to create a new 2.2.2 blog???

He doesn’t, really. But he asked a specific question and got a specific answer.

OK guys, thanks for the advice. I think I’ll do a quick separate 2.0 install just for the restore and export, then import to the 2.2.2 site. Cheers! – Brian
