Comments don't show up on posts

    Hello,

    Some of my posts have comments on it that used to show up when you clicked on the post but it no longer shows up when you click on it. I can still see it show the amount of comments on the top comment box but the comment itself is not there. I can also see the comment in my admin screen. I have enabled all my post and pages options for showing comments but somehow it’s not showing up. Here is one of the posts I am referring to (https://www.fit2fash.com/?p=562). It also doesn’t give visitors the option to comment anymore like it used to. Please help…

  • check for each of those posts in the ‘edit post’ page if comments are allowed on the post.

    under ‘dashboard – settings – discussion’, do you have a tick mark at ‘automatically close comments on articles older than [ ] days’ ?

    how does your theme deal with closed comments on a post? dos it show them or hide them?

    please contact the developer of your theme for help with that.

    For each of those posts when I click on “Edit post” it doesn’t give options for allowing comments or not. There is no field for that. If there was comments though.. it just says”Comments” and shows what the comments are, but there are no options to activate/deactivate those options.

    Under ‘dashboard – settings – discussion’, I have a tick mark at ‘automatically close comments on articles older than [ ] days’but that option is not checked off so that can’t be the problem.

    I’ve been using this same theme from the beginning so it was working okay a few weeks ago. This means it wasn’t a problem from my theme and they support it. It would show it in the past.

    check ‘screen options’ near the top right of the ‘edit post’ page;
    tick ‘discussion’ to get the Discussion panel to show below the post editor, where you can check if comments are allowed.

    So when I click on Click Options on the right of “edit post” page the options I see are: Thumbnail, Author, Categories, Tags, Comments, Views, Star (like button), Date. I don’t see “discussion” options to tick it.

    All of those options are checked off already.
    Just to make sure I am looking at the right screen…. when you refer to “edit post” are you referring to when I click on “All Posts” in my dashboard then click on each one to edit it right?

    Do you have an example of a post where comments are not displaying? Are you sure that commenting is turned off for PAGES but still on for POSTS? I can’t seem to find a post where it is disabled, but can obviously find pages where the comments are turned off.

    So I figured it out. Under my Theme Pannel, I had switched my “DISABLE COMMENTS SITEWIDE” status on. The language is a little tricky in the way you enable and disable to function.
