I want to display 10 or so lines of a posting then add “More…” “Continue reading” or something similar with a link to the full article.

When I follow what directions I’ve been able to find on this, it doesn’t have any effect other than printing the “More” tagline in the text.

I’m using the Classic theme and WP 2.2.3. The website is:

    Thanks,

  • It would appear that you are pasting text from a Microsoft application such as Word?

If you copy your text to a text editor first or into the Code panel rather than the Visual, you may be able to strip the Word coding out and this will, in all probability, allow the MORE tag to function correctly.

Wow! I knew Word’s HTML was useless, but I had no idea it followed the text like that with what should be a simple cut and paste. I reposted the long article sending it through my text editor first and the “More” tag now works fine.

    Good lesson, Shadow. Thanks.
