Category dissapears on write page

  • We added a category called “Featured Article”. Somehow it was added as the default link category, and showed up as “Default” on the Manage>>categories page. It has never shown up on the Write>>Post page.

    I changed it from being the default link category, and so it does not show “Default” on the Manage>>categories page anymore. It still does not show on the Write>>Posts page.

    I changed the name and the slug of the category as well. This did not get it on the Write page.

    Has anyone else ever seen this? Did I stumble on a weird WP reserved category name?

    Ok, so apparently, if the link count field in the database is set to something over 1, and there are no posts associated with the category, you cannot assign new posts to that category?

    If you create a new category, assign that category to a link, then that category will not be presented as a ‘post’ category.

    To make that category available for posts, just manually add that category when you are writing the post.
