display photo of any sub-album as cover photo

This will be implemented in the next version.

I just installed version 6.1.16 as I saw in the changelog you already included my request in table IV-D2.

In your changelog you mention it is for new albums only, but I changed the setting nevertheless to include a photo from any sub-album.
At the same time I also adapted a few albums manually to include “random from grandchildren” but so far I don’t see a picture for the albums that I changed.

Caching is disabled on my website so that shouldn’t be an issue.
Is there something else I must do to display the random pictures of any subalbum?

Secondly, would it be possible to apply this setting to all existing albums and not only to new albums?
Would it be enough if I update the wppa_album table and set the cover_photo to -3 like it is for the albums I changed or are multiple tables involved?

I patched it, it did not work always.
Pls re-install the plugin to fix it.

I tried re-installing the plugin, but it looks like something is messed up right now.

This is what I did:
– disable WPPA plugin
– moved the wp-photo-album from the plugin folder to ../tmp_plugin so I can easily revert
– downloaded the plugin again, unzipped it and copied it into the plugin folder
– activated the plugin
– via settings, table VIII-A1 re-initialized the plugin

At first glance my website is still working (though the cover picture from any subalbum is still not displayed) but drilling down on an album from the https://photona.org/nl/list-of-species/ page is not possible when I’m logged in as an ordinary user.

When I’m not logged in as any user or when I’m logged in as administrator everything works fine. But when I’m logged in as a normal user, the layout of the web page is no longer correct and instead of the subalbums, the page header is displayed again.

I guess this will also happen when you log in using your account so you could give it a try.

It happens with both Internet Explorer and Firefox so I don’t think it’s browser related.

I also tried to revert by putting back the copy that I made, but this doesn’t help.

Do you have any advice on this?

It might be related to the plugin WP Admin no show which I also updated today from 1.4 to 1.5.
When I disable this plugin, the drill-down is working correctly even when logged in as a normal user.

I enabled the WP Admin no show plugn again because I would like you to be able to see the result.

I will also look for an alternative plugin if this would solve the problem.

To re-install wppa do the following:

– De-activate the plugin.
– Delete the pluhgin.
– On the plugins page: add new, search for wp photo album plus
– Install and activate.

To re-install an old version:

– De-activate and delete the current version as above.
– Go to the developers page: here
– Download the zipfile of the desired version
– Upload zipfile on the plugins page.
– Activate.
– Run Table VIII-A1: Setup !!!!!!!

By re-installing via the plugins page it works.
Now the picture of any subalbum is correctly displayed.

Regarding the messed-up page when a user was logged in, I solved it by reverting to WP admin no show 1.4.5.
Luckily, I made a full backup recently which allowed me to easily switch back.
