Responsive Image Breakpoints

  • Hi, would it be possible to add in a feature that selects the appropriate
    image size based on the browser width, possibly with admin configurable breakpoints.

    i.e original – >1200px
    Large – <800px
    e.t.c

    I’m sure this feature would be appreciated by many, as it would go a long way towards helping optimise for mobile devices and the likes.

    P.s Fantastic Plugin, i’d already manually added this feature into my site
    but your plugin is way way better ??

    Darrell, thanks so much for the kind words. Your suggestion is a good one, and one I’ve thought about trying to work toward, possibly similar to RICG, although it’s a different process since the backstretch images are background images, not inline. Definitely on the list to attempt for a future release.

    I’ll second Darrel’s suggestion. It would great for the featured image to be responsive with the screen size.

    Just a heads up for you both, and whoever else might be interested…this may be more possible than I thought. Lots of other changes coming in the next version, but this piece is looking very likely as well. If you’re super duper interested in trying it, keep an eye on the GH repository and maybe take that for a spin.

    Just wanted to update you both: just pushed 2.3.0 this morning and if the user’s window is smaller than the site’s large image size, the large copy of the image will be used, instead of the backstretch copy, so it will definitely shave off some kilobytes. Thank you for suggesting it!
