Yellow Pages

  • Hello everyone,

    I wondering if it would be possible to combine a WordPress blog with a Yellow Pages type site?

    What I mean is, are there any plugins that create a yellow pages-like section of a WordPress blog?

    What is a “yellow pages-like section”? I mean, I know what a phone book is, but I’m having difficulty understanding what you’re talking about in reference to a web page.

    Sorry I am not sure how to explain it myself, I’ll try again:

    A Yellow Pages site will need a backend DB and the frontend where people can offer and search for services. So:

    a) Is there a package (similar to wordpress) that can be installed on a server and…

    b) Could this be incorporated with a wordpress installation

    ?

    Well, I’d say that the answers are:
    a) Probably.
    b) Probably.

    I mean, I don’t know of a specific one, but there’s likely one out there that will do what you want, and virtually anything can be incorporated with WordPress with some custom work.

    Would anyone know of a php or perl based ‘yellow pages’ script? Preferably something free and community developed.

    thats a good question for Google.

    I’ve been looking for the same “yb” plug-in myself. I’ve had not luck.

    I’m considering hacking around with PHPlinkdirectory (PHPld). Does anyone know if this has been attempted yet?
