I’m making some changes in the homepage of my site that I’d like to save as a draft and come back to later. I see the “Status: Published” droptown at the top of the Edit Page template that I could change to “Draft”, but will that remove it from the site?

When I try to leave the homepage in Admin to go to a different page, I get the warning that my changes may be lost. What I want is to be able to save the changes I’ve made as a draft without affecting the homepage that’s currently on the live site.

    Thanks,
    Susan

    Yes.

Here is what you can do.

    1. Open the Page for editing.
    2. Switch to the Text (HTML) Tab.
    3. Copy everything in the editor (click in the editor anywhere, hold CTL + A (select all), and then hold CTL + C (Copy).
    4. We will now Add a New Page.
    5. In the New Page’s Text (HTML) Tab, CTL +V (Paste).
    6. Save New page as Draft.
    7. Make your changes to this New draft page as if it was the Home Page.
    8. Make sure to save as draft only each time when saved.
    9. When all looks well, Copy and Paste from Draft Page to Home Page.
    10. If somehow you mess up the Home Page, you should be able to revert quickly to the most recent version. As a backup, create and save an unedited copy of the home page same method as above.

    Ok, thanks. I’ll try that.
