Maybe I am an idiot (certainly new to WP) but how do you get the TOC to display?

Simply placing [yadawikitoc show_toc=”true”] at the top of a wiki article does not work. I am migrating from another, and it used H1,H2, etc in the content to generate the TOC. What am I missing here?

Reading this: TOC Shortcode: With Yada Wiki, you can create a special wiki post with the title of “TOC”, for table of contents, and create a wiki post that will serve as the table of contents for your wiki.

Are you saying you generate 1 TOC for entire wiki? As opposed to each post?

    Thanks in advance! =)

    Hi rterwedo,

Yes, you can create a wiki article with a title of TOC and when you include the TOC shortcode in another wiki article the contents of the TOC wiki article will be inserted when the wiki article is viewed.

Here is an example page with a TOC:

    https://www.davidmccan.com/wiki/chess-combinations/

I made the background color of the TOC page gray and just put some regular wiki shortcodes to various wiki articles in a list. The gray part is the TOC. I put the TOC shortcode in the left column and the other wiki stuff article stuff in the right column.

No issue asking questions. I’m not always sure that my explanations make sense as it is too easy to assume something.

Let me know if this doesn’t make sense, if you need more info, or something isn’t working for you.

ok I get what you are saying, basically I was trying to get a TOC on each wiki article… (which I was able to do from TOC+ plugin).

You are more about making a TOC for the entire wiki – Ill see if there is some way to style this well.

OK. Please let me know if you have more questions or something doesn’t make sense.
