Problem with my front page

While in the process of building my site I lost the ‘front page’. i tried a reinstall, but got the same result/format, i. e., no front page. So, I continued with building my site and modified a page to resemble front page and it looks OK, but I’d like to have the ORIGINAL front page. Any suggestions would be appreciated.THANKS!
