• When making a new post, the plugin is creating huge spikes in CPU usage (reaching 100%) and the I/O limit.

What is the best method to prevent this? Should I untick “Clear cache on new posts” or even disable the cache while making a post, then manually re-enable it and clear it afterwards?

My shared hosting provider will not be happy with exceeding these limits.

As an experiment, I unticked the “clear on new post” box and created a new post. Naturally, it did not show when I logged out.

I then logged back in and deleted the cache. The post then showed.

The important thing is that there were no spikes this time in server resources.

Actually I had such problem before. I used to have a web-site which has 6-7K visitors daily. I didn’t enable “Clear cache on new posts”. I used to delete the cache via “cache timeout” at nights.

Yes, I think this is the way to go. I can manually delete the cache after I am happy with any new posts, so they will then show.

Then let the timeout take care of it automatically each night.

I also tried making comments with the box unticked, and they showed okay, so comments are not affected by using this method.

Yes, comments are not affected. If a comment is approved, the post’s cache is deleted.
