• I noticed several messages regarding the plugin causing the WSofD. I wish I had read this before updating – I usually just read the changelogs and check the “its broken”. Luckily I was able to roll it back. We have a large network and it killed it. I didn’t have time to debug or look to the root of the problem yet.

But FYI .. to anyone – do not install the latest update.

  • Same issue as above. We tried updating the plugin on three different sites today along with the 4.2.3 update and it killed each one. Not even going to try to update on our multisite networks. We’ll leave the old version running for now.

Yoast is using us – the users – the people who made them big – as “forced” Beta Testers! Thats so great, so innovative, so creative!

With every update thousands of pages are crashed, thanks to the awarded, incredible and awesome Yoast Developer Team!

Yoast! Thank you very much for having the pleasure to be your eternal Beta Tester!

Yes you all are correct and the worst part is that it forces you to use its features. Even if I disable the xml sitemap functionality so that I can use the Google xml sitemap plugin which is my favourite, this plugin gives me warning, disable it.

I have learned to NEVER update this plugin on the release date – sadly I check here until it’s clean. A shame because others are victims of WSoD

Does no one use test or dev installs for their sites before deploying live? Seems that could catch any potential issues, no?

Yes at times of a major design or custom post type plugin like directories/real estate/calendars- but you shouldn’t really need to do that for long respected plugin like this – it’s a rare thing that any other plugin update causes any problems at all for me – and there are 40 odd running
