    i have a spam problem where sometimes when you click on a page on my site a new tab opens with a random link. how can I fix this??

    I have a similar problem. Backup sent by email works if I use an external domain (like Gmail), but if I want to send it to the same domain of where my site is hosted, I doesn’t receive anything.

    Could it be due to the fact that Better Wp Security notices that the email is part of the same domain, so it doesn’t even try to resolve the IP address using DNS? I have a dedicated email space for my personal domain, which is hosted on another server. So it would be a problem in that case.

    Talk to your hosting provider …
    Your email issue is probably not caused by the iTSec plugin.

    How can I find out the issue by myself if no php_mail.log is generated? The strange thing is that my email domain works in every case except when I try to send the backup through your plugin.

    @lordsilver
    You mean you do receive other iTSec plugin email notifications on that domain ?
    It’s only the iTSec plugin backup email that you are not receiving ?

    dwinden

    No, I mean that using [email protected] I can send and receive emails from any domain, but I can’t receive the emails sent by your plugin. Moreover, if I use your plugin to send emails to something like [email protected], it works.

    @lordsilver
    Ok, I thought for a short moment there was a different situation.

    Try and change the E-mail Address as specified under the WP Settings\General menu option to [email protected]
    Then make sure [email protected] is specified as Backup Delivery Email in the iTSec plugin Settings page.

    Try and see whether the iTSec plugin backup email is received by [email protected] in the situation as described above and I’ll explain later when it (hopefully) works …
    (It’s a bit of a wild guess so bear with me …)

    dwinden

    Actually I already use [email protected] as my WordPress admin notification email and [email protected] as ITSec backup delivery address.

    Ha ha, always good to start the day with a laugh …
    Never assume anything …

    Ok, so temporarily change the WordPress admin notification email to [email protected]

    Then do a manual database backup from the iTSec plugin Backups page and see whether the backup email is received by [email protected]

    Again an explanation will follow, though by now you should be able to figure out what I’m aiming at …

    It doesn’t work either. Anyway, I noticed that all the emails were actually received, but they are in the wrong place (on my site main server, instead of the email dedicated server), that’s why I couldn’t see them. Is it maybe a DNS problem caused by some wrong MX records or something like that?

    I find it really strange that I can receive emails on the right server if I send them using any email client. Just the backup function integrated in the plugin seems to be a problem.

    My hosting managed to solve the problem after I told them about my discovery.

    Thank you anyway dwinden for your support, I really appreciated it.
