Not getting any support over at the Blubrry support forum so I thought I’d try here…

Client has multiple podcasts on iTunes because they used the category feature. Installed all the 301 redirects as instructed by Mike at Blubrry. Here are the issues now…

    1. The 301 is having an effect, unfortunately now iTunes shows like 15 duplicate podcasts. The goal is to get them to list one podcast. How do I kill all those other duplicates?

    2. iTunes is only showing 20 podcasts for each of the 15 duplicate podcasts. There are hundreds of episodes. How do I get the feed to show all of these on iTunes?

    3. Tons of feed validation errors now that didn’t exist before the 301s. Why did this happen, how do I fix?

    Thanks.

Reply from Mike at Blubrry in case it helps others…

    1. You have to contact Apple at https://support.itunespodcasts.com and ask them to remove the listings you want removed. (send them links to the itunes listings)

    2. It’s a bug at apple that only affects the desktop version of iTunes (Mac and Windows). They known about the 20 episode limit and are going to fix it sooner or later. The search will still search all episodes and it doesn’t happen on the iOS Podcasts app.

dailyvideo, Please reply with the URL to the thread on the blubrry support forum where you are not getting any help. I will look into it, we monitor the forums daily.

I do not know the full details, but you say there are 15 podcasts on iTunes, do you mean “programs”? If so, there is no simple way to fix other than to contact Apple and tell them which of the 15 they can remove from the directory.

Can you reply with the iTunes listing URL’s of the programs you are speaking of?

As for 301 redirect, there should be one redirect for each feed to a new, unique address. If you point more than 2 redirects to the same new URL, you will direct duplicate information to iTunes and your subscribers will be merged.

Again, only speculating answers as I do not have the full details, a link to the forum will be helpful.
