    Hi,

When I create an event, I set the status to ‘published’ and the ‘publish date’ to the current date and time (which is displayed by default). But the events do not appear on the Event Calendar until 1 hour later.

Here in the UK we have daylight saving time called BST (British Summer Time) which is 1 hour behind GMT. But we switch back to GMT in the winter months.

Somewhere along the line some piece of code must be using the wrong time. The admin panel shows the correct time (in BST) for me to enter as the publish date, but the code behind the Calendar, or the code that determines whether or not the event is considered ‘published’ must be using a different time.

If I enter a published time of 1 hour ago, it appears as published straight away.

    Any ideas?

By the way, many thanks for fixing the other issues I raised.

    Hey @juliepayne76,

In theory, if your Core WordPress timezone setting is correct (which it is), then the publishing time should be adjusting automatically. We are not doing anything special to change the publish times in our code. We are simply making use of the Core WordPress mechanism for handling this. That being said, I will dedicate a little time to double verifying this, since truthfully I have not specifically looked at this exact code in a while, and part of the normal publish procedure may have changed. I will get back to you once I have looked into it.

P.S. – you are most welcome, and thank your for expressing the appreciation.

    Hi,

Many thanks for looking into this again.

I guess this could be something server-related behind the scenes, which could mean it works for you but not for me?

    Hey @juliepayne76,

Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, it would seem that based on the available information, this is quite possibly some server setting that is out of wack. Without a direct look at it though, that is a shot in the dark. If you are comfortable with it, we can do some further direct research on it, but that would require a temporary account to your wp-admin. Usually once we have access of this nature, the problem gets solved very quickly, even if it requires a code patch. And of course, after we are finished tracking down and resolving the problem, it is a good idea to clear out the temporary account you made us. If this is something you think you are comfortable with, shoot us an email at [email protected], and make sure to mention “Loushou” and that this is something related to a forum question on WP.org.

    Thanks,
    Loushou
