• I am using the trial programme and have just started so am very much in the dark. Every Friday I receive the pew sheet for our church and need to put it on our web site. This pew sheets normally consists of two pages. The comes in PDF form and I have been trying to put on “New Post” page but all I get is the file title. If however I click on that title I get the full document so there is obviously a link. In plain English, is there another way I could show these sheets please/ I am not a computer buff ande know very little of nothing about coding so any help in simple terms will be very much appreciated.

    Regards,

  • Maybe read the description and give this a try:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/vanilla-pdf-embed/

I have only ever used it once for a single document, but it worked perfectly for me.

Thanks very much for your reply and the info. My problem is that I am not well up on these things and don’t have the faintest idea where the code shown in your link should be placed. I have just started using WP and have the free version installed on my computer.

I have a lot of issues, how to change the colour of the front page, at the moment it looks like an advertisement for a funeral parlour and the one you have replied to.

I have just seen the question below “Did I include a link so that others can see the problem?” No I didn’t because I don’t know how to do that either, and what are “backticks”, are they a comma, As you can see, I am trying to wade through porridge right now so any help I can get will be gratefully received.

    Kind regards, take care,

WordPress is pretty easy to get started with, but there are also lots of resources if you have are having trouble. Here’s a good place to start with some background/basic knowledge: https://learn.wordpress.com/get-started/

When it comes to linking to the PDF, here’s a quick guide on how to simply upload the PDF and then link to it from a post. This is an easier solution than a plugin that you need to learn the syntax and should get you started.
Adding link on page to PDF file

About your questions regarding a link when asking for support: it’s just suggesting that you add a link to the WordPress site that you are working on. It’s mostly applicable when it helps to explain the issue you’re having. You can add a link simply by pasting the URL here or by clicking the ‘link’ button at the top of this text box. Here’s a link to one of my sites which I just pasted straight into the text: https://www.lifeinstitches.eu

Hope that helps to get you started!

    Hi Hana,

Thank you very much for your advice, it worked! I can now attach a link to my PDF files, great! My wife and I had a look at your web site and were very impressed with some of the garments and knitting shown there, very nice. I was very intrigued as to how you got your pictures to come forward when I ran my cursor over them, very smart bit of work I must say, how do you do that please??

    You take care,

    Best wishes,

I’m glad to hear everything worked out!

Thanks for the compliments on my things – it’s still pretty new that I have that blog to share those things with the world. ??

The effect on the image is actually pretty simple, in this case – it’s built into the theme, Baskerville. It’s available for free via WordPress.

    Good luck further! ??
