No editor button visible

Installed on WP version 4.2.3 I do not get an ‘insert shortcode’ button above the editor. Not in Visual nor in Text mode.
Brand new WP installation with standard WP theme (Thirteen) and no 3rd party plugins.
Settings tab is available so plugin is enabled.
