I mean, that’s still not great, but it’s certainly not 1.3.1, which is around one version higher than what I started with 10 years ago (oh, and there was no WordPress 1.3.1, we jumped from 1.2 to 1.5). ??

Not only will upgrading to 4.2.4 give you tons of cool things (like better mobile compatibility), it will also plug a few hundred publicly known security holes that your site currently has. So, don’t panic, but don’t delay either.

Second, download WordPress 3.7.10 from https://www.ads-software.com/download/release-archive/

Third, upgrade to 3.7.10 manually: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Upgrading_WordPress_Extended

Finally, you’ll have a handy Upgrade option in your Dashboard that will bring you the rest of the way to 4.2.4.

On second thought, your *theme* is probably 1.3.1, and upgrading that would definitely help it, but you should also *really* upgrade WordPress itself too, probably before you upgrade the theme.
