I’ve been able to reload things so that my site is again working since the latest update, but I’ve come up against another problem that I can’t seem to figure out. I wrote a new blog post and hit the “Preview” button to see how it looked. For a split second, everything looked fine, but then all of the images disappeared, leaving only place holders with the dreaded blue question mark and the image title. Clicking on the photos does give the larger view of the correct photo, but the small view in the text area won’t come back.

I’m afraid to publish the post, for fear that the images won’t show there, either. Any ideas?

My site is here, but everything on the site at this point is from before the update.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

  • Hello,
cannot reproduce this issue, maybe a conflicting plugin?
Dunno, anyway I don’t get… what’s the problem. Just try to publish a post and if you still can’t see the images, remove it or set is as draft ??

Okay, I published the new post and then had to delete it right away, as the small images didn’t show up at all — not even the featured image on the home page. I’ll have to rewrite it when/if the issue can be solved, but that’s not a problem.

The only plugins I have installed are these, and I don’t have any idea whether they are incompatible; they were fine up to now, of course:
    Akismet 3.1.3
    Jetpack 3.6.1
Pinterest “Pin It” Button Lite 2.1.0.1
    WP Super Cache 1.4.4
    WP to Twitter 3.1.2

Any further clues? Again, my blog is here.

    Weird.
Honestly without seeing the post telling what’s going on is pretty hard :/
    (at least for me)

Does this happen just with this theme?

I have no idea whether this is theme-specific, since it’s the only theme I’ve used. I never found another that would easily allow me to set it up the way I liked. :S I’m pretty new at WP, which probably shows rather obviously.

At any rate, I went ahead and published a post so you could see what I’m facing. The featured photo on my home page is doing the same thing as the post itself.

    Mmm,
the thing is that I can see the pictures in that post:

    and in home:
    https://prntscr.com/82nh7s

    mmm

How odd! You saw them for more than a second or two, right? I can’t get them to show up, even on my iPad, iPhone, or even on my husband’s Mac. They show for a second or two, then abruptly “turn off” and are replaced by place holders. This happens in Safari and in Firefox.

    Nope I always see them.
So the issue might be with the retina versions?
Go in Appearance -> Customize -> Global Settings -> Image Settings -> High resolution (Retina) support

    uncheck that.

    I think that’s the issue.
All your devices have retinas display.

Bingo!!! ?? Thanks *so* much! That did the trick, and I’d never have figured it out without your help!

    Thanks again! ??

    You’re welcome.
    Anyway that’s weird.
I think there is some conflicting plugin.

    Anyway, glad you solved ??

Maybe that plugin will be updated, but at least it seems to be okay for now. ??
