I cannot enter the user name – Keeps adding extra \ into name

  • Hello,

    Sorry if this is a very basic question, however I cannot find the answer.

    My user name for my SQL database is RDESKTOP\USERNAME

    My problem is when I enter the above username, after saving, it adds an additional \ to the user name.

    Is there something I should be doing different, or is there a better username format to use. When I add users in Windows 8 Pro, it did not give me an option of removing it.

    I can connect to my SQL database remotely using MS SQL, however I cannot get this plug in talking to my db.

    Any help would be great, and I apologize if this is a basic question or has already been answered.
