Deleted Media still appears in Google search

  • Hi there,

    I’m having an issue with deleted media files still showing up in Google searches. Basically, I deleted a file from my Media Library, but it can still be found when using Google to search? I’ve never run into this issue before and am stumped. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Google like most search engines “crawls” the Internet, and as it visits sites it updates its database about those sites.

    When you search on Google it is using data about your site from its database to display results.

    So you may make a change on your site but Google won’t notice and update its database until it crawls/visits the site a few days later.
