How to upload when hosting (Novice)

  • Hi, I am a big time novice using wordpress 2.2 and am hosting through hostgator. 1) Should I upgrade to 2.3 and how do I do that? Are there enough widgets already out for 2.3? Additionally, I am having a hard time understanding how to upload widgets to my directory after I unzip the file. How do I do this if I am running wordpress through a host?
