Directory Default Settings won't override

I’ve got the original, updated version of the Directory instead of the new Gravity View one. In the intial set up, you have defaults and you’re supposed to be able to override them with each directory you create.
However, it’s not recognizing the overrides. Anyone else having issues with this? Any ideas on why?
Reason I ask is the default is how I want it on most the directories but they are a few that I want to customize.
