Event List – wrong date language

Hi,
when showing the Event List using the shortcode [upcoming-events], the date is in English (“Wed” instead of “Mit” for German word “Mittwoch”)
My settings are: D, d. m. Y
Can someone help me to get the german names of the months?The mini-calendar display the right names (M?rz, Januar, Februar…)
