• Since upgrading to 4.3 I’ve been unable to upload any media above a few kB in size, either using the browser uploader or the multi-file uploader. The former just redirects to a white screen, the latter gives the error message “An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.”.

In both cases, a file is created in the media library (only viewable after a refresh) but it has a blank grey icon, no thumbnail; if you add the picture to a gallery it is actually there but obviously you can’t do a lot with it with no indexing happening. If you try to view the attachment page, it shows the following:

    https://www.knockholtcarnival.org.uk/?attachment_id=700
But click on “full resolution” and you can see that the image is there.

I’ve updated my hosting setting (which is with oneandone) to PHP5.6, but no success.

I have a number of other, separate sites, all on the same oneandone account but running off different databases, and they all have the same issue.

A bit of an update – I can upload most images now after reinstalling WP4.3 but it still has the same issue with anything remotely large. So a photo which is 3MB won’t work, but if I manually reduce it in size and it becomes 800kB, it does work. The problem I have is that there are 50 or so images that I want to upload – and also it’s not just me doing this, and others have even less technical ability than me.

WP says that the limit for a file is 8MB – is there a reason it’s not working for small file sizes? It seems to be uploading the file but then doesn’t do any of the processing where it generates the large, medium and thumbnail images.
