Remove trailing slash using .htaccess in WordPress

Why? The trailng slash is correct unless it’s like this.

https://your-site-url/index.php/

In which case that would be a problem. I that what’s happening to you?

Search engines may see this as duplicate content as it could be seen as 2 pages.

As an example, all hits to https://www.domain.com/contact/ should be redirect to https://www.domain.com/contact

Basiclaly, they say that even though they do count it as two URL’s, their algorythm is smart enough to know that it is the same page.

Their advice is that if you’re concerned, make sure you set up canonical links for each page and all problems are forgotten. There’s no need for redirects or any other “fancy” solutions.

It’s important to mention that if the permalink structure has a trailing slash WordPress will always redirect the URL with a trailing slash which means any alternate rules in .htaccess won’t help.
