• Hi and thanks for this wonderful plugin!

    This plugin covers tree cases: individual affairs, free collaboration (group) and collaboration under a “master” who assigns tasks.

    What do you do in the case you have an environment with independent persons who work individually but they want to know the projects and progress of the others?

    Well it happens frequently, for example when you have a site for a club or a forum for professionals. There it is important to see what others do for many reasons: you get more motivated, you want to encourage them, you want to send them a friendship request because you are excited with their achievements and maybe you search a good partner or employee who accomplishes things quickly.

    When you set the setting to Master the option “addedby” is no longer available. You see projects and tasks but not the author. It’s very frustrating and I can’t use this plugin because of that.

    Is there a fix in order to resolve this problem? (In my opinion the people that work independently but would like to see what others do are a lot and it would be a good idea to add a fourth list view just for them.)

    PS Other good ideas is buddypress integration and comments support so that people can communicate about their projects and tasks.

    Thanks in advance

    Another alternative would be to have the possibility to make the Individual level visible. Even in that case the “addedby” option would be needed so that other users can identify the authors.

    PS I would like to see an option in OptimaList for the case I mention in this thread.

    The plugin can be easily modified to show the added by for master.

    If you’re comfortable with finding and editing code yourself, any addedby related function (and table headings function, depending on what you’re using), needs to change from this:
    CTDL_Loader::$settings['list_view'] == 1

    to:

    CTDL_Loader::$settings['list_view'] != 0

    Thanks for the code, but before doing that I tested the permissions and there I have a problem. Look at the screnshot

    My subscribers should be able to edit their tasks, but if I give them the capability “Edit To-Do Item” they can edit others’ tasks as well. This is normal for the Group level where the work is collaborative, not for the Master level. Here is what I see in the settings:

    “The Master setting allows you to have one master list (created by an admin) for all users with individual completion of items.”

    What do you mean by individual completion of items, when others are able to edit your task?

    I really dont understand what is the real back-end behind that capability.

    The master list allows you to have one (the same) to-do list for everyone. Every user can complete/uncomplete the tasks on this list without affecting other users completion status.

    I plan to have much greater list flexibility with OptimaList, but it will be awhile yet until that is ready.

    Yes, the feature that is lacking is more flexibility for the subscriber role. Just Completing/uncompleting is not very interesting if they haven’t the possibility to edit their own tasks. Unfortunately I cannot give them the capability “Edit To-Do Item” because it affects other people’s tasks.

    That said, the plugin is useful given that there are 5000 active installs. I am totally conscious that I am trying to repurpose this plugin to fit a community network needs. Obviously this is not the purpose this plugin has been made.

    Maybe with OptimaList I’ll have more chance.
    Have a nice day!
