Regex (for social share buttons)

Are regexes (of any variety) allowed to be used for identifying the selector? I am having issues using them.

Specifically I am trying to track clicks to our social sharing buttons on our site. Since the referring URL is captured in each link dynamically by the social platform, I am struggling to create unique events for each platform (e.g. a ‘Twitter’ event. The action would be ‘Share’ and the Label would be the URL of the page).
