After some research, we found out that it’s more reasonable to skip Mistape load if a user agent is unlikely to behave well. Also, mobile browsers won’t see the caption anymore.

Considering the optional nature of the plugin, this is really desired behavior. Sacrificing 1% of an audience using the pre-11 version of IE is worth maintaining clean and simple code.

    Expect version 1.0.6 soon.

Thanks for quick solution, but plugin still has a bug.

Well, we need more info on that then.
We have no browsers older than IE11 to test, but tests using emulation pass. IE10 and older – all they get no Mistape caption, js and css, thus no problems with blocking page.

So, what kind of bug persists? Is it the same as you described before — “Thanks” popup emerging on any click? Can you post your browser’s user agent? This might help.

Seems, it doesn’t work on IE10. But now it doesn’t block the page.

That’s right. To be more failproof, Mistape now skips execution for IE<11.

In any case thanks for nice plugin.

    Hi.

For now, latest version skips IE entirely :).

Since selection extraction logic is very complicated now, it will take more effort to add support for IE as it uses completely different methods to work with selections.

    Just letting you know.

    Hope you enjoy the plugin!

    Hi,

Unfortunately, statistic says we have 7.2 % IE users ??

Yeah, surely IE shouldn’t be dumped. But it requires a fair amount of work to add support for it, and the new release with dialog mode options would be considerably delayed if we decided to hold it until implementing IE.

After all, Mistape is a completely optional plugin and it doesn’t involve any critical site functionality, so it should be OK that it doesn’t support IE yet. The “Press Ctrl+Enter” caption is not displayed either, so no confusion is caused.
