• I’d like to offer my readers easy quoting and styling of their comments, but I can’t seem to find anything. Ideally, I’d like to have a couple buttons over the box that inserts links and formatting codes around selected text, but automatic quoting from other comments in the thread would be nice, too.

In other words, I’d like it to work like the comments here do.

Live preview and user-editing of comments would also be nice, but I know there are already plug-ins for this.

  • As far as I can remember there is a plugin for everything… but all your requests mean one plugin for each: for quicktags or wysiwyg, for threaded comments, for preview etc.

What I think I’m looking for is something like quicktags. I just want to allow commenters, even those not logged in, to highlight a word and click a button to link, bold, quote, or italicize it with standard HTML, just like in the message I’m posting right now.

I looked into Alex King’s quicktags, but it’s not working for me. I’m guessing it’s probably a K2/Ajax issue, so I need something that can co-exist with that.

    hi MrGunn,
if you still need a tool to add markup buttons to the comment box (although not the quoting tool) you can give C4F Textarea Toolbar a try.

    bye ??
