You can try deactivating all of your plugins to explore whether any are responsible. Yes using valid HTML is always helpful towards your ranking.

I tried this suggestion and, unfortunately, it did not solve the problem.
    Any other solutions?
    Thanks!

Do you think it could be an issue with the images in the content of posts/ or that page that you’re validating? The Home page?

    Hi Andrew,
I don’t know enough to answer your questions.
Did you look at the report? I included the link in my initial question?
Did you look at my website?

    https://www.davidkagen.com

    Here’s the report: https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.davidkagen.com%2F

The photos were downloaded from the internet.
    Thanks!

I didn’t check out your site but I did look at your errors. As far as I’m aware, the theme doesn’t come with images by default so I immediately thought it was a content management thing. When I looked at your site, I thought maybe it’s some custom code instead. See the images that I’ve outlined in red: https://snag.gy/S8E74.jpg – These images are missing the alt attribute.

    I am not html savvy.

How/where do i go to add the “alt attribute”?

How did you get that code in there to begin with? Your theme looks like it’s been heavily modified

    Thread Starter David

    (@davidyanowitz)

I appreciate your question because I am completely baffled that the theme looks like it has been “heavily modified.”
All I did was build a new website by typing and adding photos. I created no html coding.
I had an old website where I took text and copied into Notebook on Windows 7 in order to get rid of any obsolete formating/html coding.
Then, I copied the text from Notebook and pasted it into pages.
I created links to other pages as well as my blog and twitter page.
And I added audio files from podcasts I did, which I first edited with Audacity.
Any guidance or advice you can give me will be appreciated.
In terms of the “alt attributes,” do I add them to the photos in the Media Library? Where do I put them? Do I need to add a description as well?
    Thanks!

To clear up some confusion, can you clarify whether you’re using the Virtue theme as distributed on www.ads-software.com? https://www.ads-software.com/themes/virtue/

    (@davidyanowitz)

    Yes. That is correct.
