  • If your sitemap page is not called exmaple.com/sitemap/ or something similar the varvy.com scanner may not properly recognize it. Also it is best practice to link to your sitemap page from every page. I recommend linking to it in the footer/bottom area of your website.

I have tested 3 of my websites where I have the plugin installed and they all passed.

What do you recommend is the best way to link to the sitemap from the footer of each page?

Also, I wanted to exclude some landing pages from my sitemap so I checked noindex on the Advanced tab of Yoast SEO. That worked but should I also check nofollow?

    Hello –

RE: Yoast nofollow settings: take a look at this guide here https://yoast.com/robots-meta-tags/ – checking the nofollow setting “Tells the search engines robots to not follow any links on the page at all.”

RE: Linking to the sitemap – just include a link to the page generated by this plugin somewhere in the footer of your site, i.e. https://www.domain.com/sitemap/ so it appears on all pages of your site.
