Tare Weight for Shipping Box?

I’m shipping lightweight Christmas ornaments and I need to include the weight of the box in the calculation for shipping. The ornaments only weigh 1.6 ounces, while the box weighs 5 ounces. So the weight for one boxed ornament would be 6.6 ounces, while two ornaments would be 8.2 ounces.

If I don’t include the box weight in the shipping calculation, I’m going to undercharge considerably for shipping. If I include the box weight in each ornament, I will overcharge for considerably for shipping. So I need to somehow have WooCommerce add the 5 ounces for the box just once to the transaction.

I’ve searched for a plug in or a tweak that will allow this but so far I can’t find anything. I can’t even find “tare weight” addressed anywhere.

Does anyone have any ideas? All I can think of is forcing the buyers to “purchase” a box as an item. Which isn’t very professional way to go about things (not to mention will be missed by many).
