Auto update?

Last night the Akismet plug-in updated itself via FTP …. should I be concerned? This seems fishy. I’ve installed Ithemes security also … and it isn’t supposed to have access at that time.
The plugin says: 3.1.5 … but the licence says version 2.
Have I been hacked?
