hide live page while editing in WordPress?

  • I want to add a submenu item and new page. How can I hide a page until I am ready to publish it?

  • Hello EF!

    There are a couple options to get this done. First, you can create a draft and use the url from the draft in the submenu. This of course won’t hide the menu option and would result in a 404 error until published.

    The second option would be making the page private, but once again it would be the same option.

    Lastly, you could check out a permissions plugin (such as Press Permit or User Role Editor to make pages only visible to certain user roles, and thus ensure a menu isn’t visible until you change the user permissions of the page.
