Hello Malcolm. I am evaluating StageShow for our local community theatre and I must say it is a very impressive piece of software!

However, there is one aspect I find rather cumbersome and I wonder if there is a way around it that I haven’t discovered yet.

If I have a season of, say, 20 performances with five different ticket classes (prices), is there a way to select the performance and THEN select the ticket classes and numbers to add to the cart from a list of only five options? As it is, I can only see how to list all five ticket options for all 20 performances, which gives the patron a rather baffling option of 100 items to choose from.

    Many thanks,
    Graham

    Hi Graham

It’s a fair comment, and really rather surprising that nobody has mentioned it before. So there is clearly scope for improvement here, and I’ll take a look at how a “drill down” mechanism can be incorporated into the StageShow Box-Office output. In the mean time there is a workaround.

You can create a wordpress page for each performance, and then add a shortcode ( [sshow-boxoffice id=”Show Name” perf=”Date & Time”] ) to output just the ticket options for that page. Your purchasers can then be directed to the page for the performance that they wouldlike to book.

    Hi Malcolm

Thanks very much for your prompt reply (I realise you’re on the other side of the world!)

I look forward to what you can come up with to implement this idea. Thank you for the workaround in the mean time.

I have discovered that many of the features I would like to evaluate are only available in the StageShow+ or Gold versions. Is there any way to look at these on a trial basis?

    Best regards,
    Graham

The online demo is probably your best bet. You can find it here. It is however a little behind the current build … but I am intending to update it once development of the new features I am working on is completed.

If the demo does not give you visibility of what you want, contact me here and well sort something out.

That’s great – thanks, Malcolm! I hope the “new features I am working on” include the performance “drill-down” ??

    Cheers,

The demo has now been updated to the latest build, which now includes a discount codes feature in StageShowGold. This build does not however include the “drill-down” feature, as this is still in development but is now nearing completion, with just some work on styling and documentation still to complete.

I do have a beta version of the drill-down feature running on my trial server, and would value your feedback on the implementation. If you could contact me via my contact page I’ll pass on the details so you can see it in action.

    Hi Malcolm,

I would be interested in testing the drill-down feature.

I was considering moving stageshow-boxoffice-datetime in a new row with jQuery, and using it to toggle all stageshow-boxoffice-row below it on and off (accordion style). Of course, it would be easier if the feature was built-in.

Can the feature be turned on and off in shortcode? I can see it being useful in the case Graham describes, but a hinderance on other events with fewer options.

The Drill-Down style is selected by a Shortcode, but is only available in the StageShowGold variant of the plugin.

The shortcodes available for any variant of the plugin are shown on the Overview page, and for the drill down box-office feature you should use the following shortcode:

    [sshow-boxoffice style=drilldown]

Thanks. I’ll have to take another look at Gold to see if we should upgrade. I noticed all your demo sites are in maintenance mode. Is there a problem or just bad timing?

I’ve been updating the demos so that users can change the settings and even test with a live PayPal account if they wish. Unfortunately in the process I’ve broken the demo site, so I’ve taken it offline while I fix it!

    Demo site back up!
