• Seriously I am getting fed up with wordpress they keep making meaningless updates to it and it gets more and more bugs!
Now I cannot update or change my theme. There is no button to add new themes. I am stuck on the awful default theme! ??

    [link to non-wordpress site removed]

    How has this happened?

  • Please make sure you are logging in as the administrator of the site, otherwise you won’t be able to change themes.

yup i am the only account and I am admin

In some rare cases, WordPress updates don’t complete correctly. You may need to manually update WP core by the following steps:
    1) Download latest version of WP to your local machine.
    2) Unzip it.
    3) Upload these new files to your server and replace the existing ones – **But with the following exceptions: Do not replace the wp-config.php file or the wp-contents folder on your server.
    4) Check to see if everything is working again.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, we may need to try basic troubleshooting steps of disabling all custom themes and disabling all plugins to confirm a default WordPress installation works. Some themes and plugins may override or enhance basic core WordPress functionality.

I don’t get it because this is a freshly installed wordpress no update or anything I updated over an older installation but I deleted everything from my hosts html public folder before I installed wordpress again!! ??

I keep having issues with it. It never used to be so unreliable.

Hmmm. Have you double checked the file permissions for your WordPress installation? Do you have access to read/write/execute on the server? Does WordPress run under it’s own user account? It may be running with different permissions. That may be why you can’t update. But the fact that you don’t even see a way to add new themes suggests something is wrong with your WordPress installation – that is not normal. Normally you go to the Appearance->Themes view and click the “Add New” button next to the theme count number (upper left) and you can search for themes and install them there. If you’re not even seeing that, something is very wrong with either your user account or your WordPress installation.

I think I will give up on wordpress for my own personal site its nothing but trouble I just want a simple platform to have some video an music I work on. Any recommendations?

I am trying Dotclear but cannot find how to edit the theme..

Something or someone has locked it down then. That’s not standard out-of-the-box WordPress behavior. I’d check with your hosting for further assistance at this point. Like I said, this is not normal, default WordPress behavior.
