    Hi,

    Pretty much all requests will be handled by Wprdress. Unless there is an actual file or directory present on the filesystem that takes precedence before WordPress.

    Usually this unknown urls should result in a Page not found page of your wordpress site.

    Thanks Pascal, so what you’re saying is that IF the request comes from a blocked country WordPress is going to catch it first and block it. Then show the weird URL in the IQblock log?

    If the request comes from an unblocked country, then the request results in a Page Not Found error?

    Any idea why bots would browse to /-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/ ?

    I get quite a few of these, shouldn’t I just block in .htaccess?

    Hi,

    Correct. As long as you have frontend blocking on of course ?? Otherwise it will ignore the request.

    If the country is not blocked (or frontend blocking is not on) then it will default go to a 404 page not found page. Ofcourse all depending on your specific wordpress installation with plugins and themes.

    There are just a lot of bots hanging around and scanning every website url for known software insecurities that they can exploit. I see many scans in my logfiles for software that is not even installed.
