• Hello Everyone,

I keep getting messages from Google Webmaster Tools saying my site has a large number of server problems. In one specific day, it reached 9.5% of the connections tried by the Googlebot.

I contacted hostgator where my site is hosted, they say there’s nothing wrong with the server, and “phisically” I can’t find anything. The site is running fast, no errors, etc.

I haven’t changed anything on my wordpress instalation, I even tried to disable the BAN and the IP filter plugin, but I keep getting the errors. Google don’t give me any details, they only say they are “connection refused” errors.

I have no idea what to do. My site is hosted since 2010 in the same hosting company and I’ve never had anything similar. I’m sure this will affect my rankings in a negative way, so I need a solution asap.

    Any clues?

    [ No bumping please. ]

This is not a wordpress.core issue.

Issue such as “connection refused” is between you and your hosting provider. Does not matter what they say, they have to resolve this issue for you.

One time i had similar issue, because the server my site was on was older server.

    Hello Tara, thank you
In the meantime, I have no errors in the last two days, so now I’m almost sure it was something with the server. I will keep watching the stats and if hostgator doesn’t resolve my problem, I will just move my site to other hosting company ??

    Thanks again for your feedback

This kind of issue is quite hard to track, because it could be either bots or real people.

Like Tata says, not a core issue.

After if you server is realllllly slow, which i doubt, you can have that kind of errors by hack attack or so (DDOS).

    Hi There Digico,
I understand what you say, but I use a few services to notify me when my site is down and none of them found any problem. It happens with googlebot only, it’s a little strange.

    Thanks for your help
